My poor brother
We went skating outside today, for it is a gorgeous day. We went down to the elementary school to have some fun. Unfortunately, He and I have varying opinions on what is “fun” on skates. His definition involves just skating around and working on staying on all eight wheels, where as mine involves getting low and knocking other people over. I coerced him into letting me practice some hits on him because I thought he had gotten the hang of derby stance and staying low. But one timid booty block later and he was down on the asphalt. Needless to say, he stopped wanting to humor me and my kind of fun after that. :p
Also, the other day I heard one of our coaches saying that she had made her own toe guards out of duct tape, and that they worked really well. I’ve been cringing at the thought of paying over $20 for new guards on my skates, so I thought I’d try it. They look good, and are definitely cheaper. I’ll see how they do at the next practice.

Tonight’s practice completely wiped me out. I haven’t felt this good after derby for a while. :) I think I’m gonna eat dinner and then sleep. IF I can get myself to get up and into the kitchen. Goodness, I love the feeling after a long workout.
Side note: Am I the only one who goes on a bruise hunt after playing derby? I bet I’m not. :)

All yarn is hand-dyed by myself on a sturdy 75% wool, 25% nylon sock-weight base. The yarn is superwash, but minimal bleeding is possible due to the hand-dyed nature of the yarn, so caution is urged when washing. All dyes are food-safe ;-)
